SignIn Application
Overview
The SignIn Application allows you to SignIn as a staff member (see the Reporting Database for setting up new staff personnel). You can click on workstations from your computer lab map (see the SignIn Manager on how to edit a map of a lab). Occupied workstation will turn blue, out of service will be red. When you click on a white workstation (unoccupied) you will be prompted for an ID number. The program will search for existing ID numbers in your customer data so you do not have to reenter the same customer twice.
How to log in to SignIn Application
Go to Start->Programs->SignIn Lab Software. Click on Lab Software – SignIn. In the upper right hand corner you will find a drop down box with names of all the staff personnel existing in the Reporting Database. To add new names or delete old ones see the Reporting Database section. Click on the drop down box and select your name to SignIn. (password protected login available with the Enterprise version of SignIn)
How to sign in a customer on a workstation
Click on a white workstation symbol (white means unoccupied). You will be prompted for an ID number, first and last name. Ask the customer for the picture ID that your organization chose to use (driver license, student ID, library ID). You may scan the ID if you are using a bar code scanner or magnetic strip scanner. If you are using only the keyboard enter the ID number (may consist of numbers and letters) and hit the ENTER key. This will trigger the searching mechanism to look into your customer data tables (The bar code reader automatically issues the ENTER command after reading in the ID). If the customer already exists in your database the name will appear on the screen where you can verify it against the picture ID. If the customer does not exist in the database you will be prompted to enter the information: first name, last name, street address, etc. First name and last name and the ID number are the only required fields. Click Save when ready. The workstation symbol will turn blue to indicate that the seat is taken.
How to sign out a customer
Click on the blue workstation symbol to find out the information about the customer occupying the place. If you choose to sign the customer out click YES. If you wish to cancel click Cancel. You can also edit the Customer information by clicking NO. You may change the Class or subject of the customer’s visit. You may change the accessory that the customer checked out or provide notes and comments. You can also change the workstation number which would move the customer to a different seat.
